  • Friends come first

So what TV character would you like to get it on with?

Corrie fans told us all about their love for the characters, along with Modern Family, Eastenders, Dawsons Creek and Friends. My personal favourite was Saved By the Bell. Who remembers Zack and Slater the loveable cheeky guys that had their charming good looks to boot? I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who thought they were all right characters back in the day.

    Who’s my date then??

They Daily Dilemma came in from a listener who had asked her friend to be her date to a wedding abroad, fast forward to a few months later. the newly loved up friend wants to bring her man instead!

Our male listeners seem to think this dilemma wasn’t much of problem “bring the boyfriend and drop the mate” is what we heard. Vinny agreed with that statement. I guess we women are deeper than that and I agreed with Mary, it’s a little insensitive to ditch a friend just because you have a new man. Personally I would be a little hurt.

The feeling here is were you just using the friend as a back up, if not then the boyfriend should understand you made prior arrangements. There is always a compromise, you can still take the friend and get your boyfriend to come after the wedding when your mate has left.

    Talk  tya tomorrow!

  • 2pac gets revamped

What movie title best describes your mood this morning? We had Evolution, Shawshank Redemption, Shrek and even Sleepless in Seattle.

Mary got a love letter from her adoring fans following Vinny’s from yesterday.

The lovely lads from KEYWEST called in to say hello and not only that we were given an in studio performance of their take on a famous 2pac song listen here. We’re looking forward to seeing them at the Poptober concert. They will also be performing with some other acts you might have heard of Belle Amie and JEDWARD.

Our Daily Dilemma this morning, who do you think should do the proposing, the man or the woman? As always the story is never black and white it had a slight twist because the boyfriend had made it clear he wasn’t really ready for marriage and he even went as far as saying he didn’t want a wedding.

Sometimes it’s best to respect someone elses wishes especially if they have already said exactly what they feel and expect.Yes you have expectations as well but make sure you’re on the same page before any rushing any decisions.

    More tomorrow morning folks

  • Handyman is the one that I want!

Things you ate when you were younger that you shouldn’t have.Vinny revealed snails were his favourite to devour. Caller Sarah revealed she ingested White Spirits thinking it was 7up leading to her stomach being pumped!

We then moved on to moments that make your heart sink, some of my favourites were making the tea and realising that the milk has gone off, bills arriving via post when you think you have everything budgeted  for the month. Also when there is no toilet paper in public toilets and  lastly when you go to buy tickets for a concert and you realise it’s sold out.

Today’s Daily Dilemma proved that there was a lot of  brave women in the South. “I’m in love with my handyman , what should I do”. Keith a handyman himself, told us of his experience  listen here

We’re nearly half way through week so tune in for your midweek BeatBreakfast!

  • Some things are better left unsaid!

Some things are better left unsaid and today the people of the South East spoke out about what they think their other halves should keep mum. They ranged from this very cringeworthy one listen here…WHAT!

To “have you met my old lady” said about a girlfriend “I had some great times when I was single” said by another boyfriend and “I would love to go, if she lets me” HHmm ball and chain we think.

Today’ s Daily Dilemma was from a male listener who said  his kids hate his new girlfriend. It’s hard to win over children so just take your time and they will come around. Having a talk with them will let them know there is no need to feel threatened but patience is the main thing in this situation.

More tomorrow morning so tune in!

  • Move in or Move on?

A right craic was had! We did a recap of the week and then some. It’s drawing closer and closer to the run for life marathon and so we got talking out about preparations and the like! I hope you have been getting into gear  because October or should I say Poptober is just around the corner…

Our Daily Dilemma was quiet the conundrum. Our listener is off to college and is trying to find a new place. Her friend with whom she fell out a while back, over girly bitchiness, wants a new roomy for college and our listener isn’t sure if she should take the room and bury the hatchet or go and live with her Aunt.

If you fell out for very serious reasons then it’s in your best interest to steer clear because you don’t want old troubles to come back and haunt you. Living with anyone is a big step. College is a time for meeting new like minded people and making friends for life so just keep an open mind by looking into other options before you jump into the first one that sounds like a good idea because in the long run it might not be!

That’s it for the week, we’re back on Monday!

  • Meet and Greet

Today has been very eventful! It was our second day of the National Ploughing Championships and we have been having a blast.

    Location: The Avonmore Tent

Day one: We were just getting in the swing of things. Weather wise it was touch and go for a bit but like a blossoming flower the day turned out beautifully.

Day two: Today we had top notch entertainment from the breakfast crew accompanied by the Beat Fleet. The tent was jam packed, people came from far and wide to see Niall, Mary and Vinny. The weather didn’t hold up as well as it did on day one but nevertheless we had a great time!

Tomorrow we’re back again at  12.50pm, check us out!

  • Lets go Plough!

We’re off to the National Ploughing  Championships for the next three days so to send us off we had a country themed topic.

Finish this sentence “You know you’re in rural Ireland when…” We had some very funny responses for example “…there is a cow in you’re back yard” and “…your first date takes you on a tractor ride”.

The Daily Dilemma was one I could relate to so here is my view on things.

First lets start with the gist of the story:

Boy – I’ve found new girl and I’m mad about her.

Girl – I feel Jealous and upset, Do I fancy you? Should I tell you? I didn’t think I fancied you, you’ve been my mate all along, now I’m not so sure what I  feel!

Answer – No don’t tell him! It all comes down to A) Attachment B) Territorialism C) Misplacement of emotions. You have grown attached to this guy which has made you feel close to him and now your emotions are playing a trick on you but only because secretly you think someone else is going to take your place.

Give it time once you get used to the idea things will start to feel very different. If  you feelings don’t change  just keep in mind that Que Sera Sera!

    More again tomorrow….. from Athy!

  • Were you a Style Fool?

Tomorrow is the last day of our Style School competition so today we put our own spin on things and had a Style ‘Fool’ show. We asked listeners to text or call  in and tell us when they were style fools.

We had shiny trackies, unforgivable perms and even coloured jeans for men. Yes we had some pretty hurrendous moments in time, lets Thank God they have passed and we are wiser.

I wonder will our styles of today be considered foolish in a few years to come. Yeah I would say that will be a definite Yes! I’m already cringing at my Amy Winehouse hair moments, God rest her soul.

Our Daily Dilemma today had everyone asking what do women really want? Even I asked that and I’m a woman myself. We conmplain about the bad boys and then we complain about the good guys. Is there a happy medium?

We read an email from a listener who has been dating a guy who is a little bit on the softer side. He cries after hurling matches and squeals at insects and the like. We struggled through the email to find anything she did like about him,in the end we came up with a grand total of  TWO  “he’s smart” and “he’s reasonably cute”…REASONABLY! Oh dear Geanie, dump him before he kills you softly!

It’s Friday tomorrow lets send the week off with a bang, Beat breakfast on us so tune in!

  • “Alone at last”

This morning we talked about moving in with a partner. According to new research moving in could mean that your partners bad habits could rub off on you. So we asked what would be the worst possible habit you could pick up from the opposite sex.

Peeing on the toilet seat came in from one listener while Vinny added turning into a reality Tv addict would be his.

Today’s  Daily Dilemma was from a listener who the phrase “You should have gone to specsavers!” was very appropriate. He had one of those moments you wish the ground could momentarily open up and swallow you. This was a case of  mistaken identity to the highest degree. Better him than us we say,  listen here.

We agreed that telling the grilfriend would be the smart thing to do. She has to then tell her mother that he thought it was a simple mistake and let us forget it ever happened and move on.

Tirrah for now more in the AM
