  • Who’s your Favourite?

Do parents really always have a favourite child? Well according to all the texts we received this morning yes, yes they do!

It seems the boys are top of the list AKA “The Golden Boy” or the youngest AKA “The Baby”. We even had a mother who admitted to treating her youngest a little bit differently!

Here is caller Wendy telling us a few home truths!

I don’t think there is any favouritism in my family but maybe that’s because I am the favourite haha!

  • Facebook kills…Relationships!

We all have our favourites, some make our knees go weak, some gives us butterflies and some just grates the nerves… I’m talking about accents!

This morning Donegal was voted as having the sexiest accent in the country while Tipperary had the worst. So of course we wanted to know what’s your favourite?  If you’re unsure have a look at Youtube, there are literally hundreds of  fakers trying to do some of the worlds best accents all in one clip!

I’m not even joking when I say Facebook kills…relationships, bit dramatic I know, but I’m telling you, it does! It has single handedly been the cause of some the heaviest and touchiest relationship topics!

If your other half deleted a comment that was seemingly suggestive by the opposite sex would you worry? Damn right you would especially if this action was taken after he ‘liked’ it.

Interrogate I say!Others would say “You should have trust”  here is my response to that “yada yada yada” I would rather find out than let the questions inside my head eat me alive!

Of course there is more tomorrow you don’t even have to ask

  • Best Woman

The shave or dye charity fund-raiser is raising a lot of issues in schools around the south East, but is it really necessary for schools to punish the students for  the hairstyle of their choice after all it is for a very good cause?

Should our kids be encouraged to support the cause or stick to uniform rules and regulations? This one was open to the public and most seemed outraged at the schools that took action against students.

Would you care if your fiancé chose a best friend as the best man, I’m sure the answer is no, but what if that person is of the opposite sex then would it matter? Kinda like the film Maid of Honour we were told, listen here to this mornings dilemma and hear what conclusion the Beat Breakfast crew came to.

  • Fight Night!

Yesterday was Valentines day and Facebook was flooded with comments of how wonderful the day was. Niall spoke this morning about how annoying this is for everyone else, and as much as I am not a hater of the day I have to agree. Why is it that some people find it necessary to post every waking moment of their lives on the site??

Today’s dilemma was about a fighting couple and we revisited yesterday’s dilemma. A wife had not received the flowers that she knew her husband had bought!

The general thoughts were for her to confront the husband after he comes back from his trip!

As for today’s dilemma, the constant fighting over trivial little things is annoying for anyone. So all that is left is asking yourself is there a point?

What is the point of spending 90% of your relationship being pissed off or in a mood because of a fight. 10% of happiness is really not what I call a relationship!

Mid-week slump over, more tomorrow :-)

  • It’s Valentines Day

It’s Valentines day and as cynical as some might be about the flowers, the chocolates, the dinners and the love-birds writing songs of praise for each other, I my friend, am not one of those people!

Yes the day is somewhat commercialised, yes it’s the way all the holidays are and yes it may be a gimmick and a money making thing. Here are my thoughts, GET OVER IT! Everything is like that these days and if we chose to be negative about it all then that’s just what we’ll get back, negativity!

So slap a smile on that face and be grateful for happiness, which is what I think love is all about!Whether you are single or in a relationship it’s all just a day of Love. You are either a sister brother, daughter or son, mother or father, aunt or uncle so share the love folks! And it’s not cheesy if its true!

  • We will always love you Whitney!

Another one of our icons have passed away! Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48 and needless to say it has left the world heart broken. We have seen her publicly struggle with the divorce from her ex-husband Bobby Brown and an even more public battle with drugs and alcohol.

Some say the news of her death was not at all surprising as her downward spiral seemed to be never ending, even after her comeback album in 2009. The last days of her life were reported to be eractic and the paparazzi made sure pictures would prove this.

We here at Beat102-103 have been playing her greatest hits all morning so I hope you have been listening. Here is another one of her whopper tunes It’s Not Right But It’s OK!

  • All I have to do is…Dream

Good morning all, this dewy Wednesday morning could do with drinking a cup of sunshine but we shall not complain as the day has only just begun!

Staying on the topic of dreams, today our daily dilemma e-mailer told us she has has been having more than a few about her new co-worker. The ‘hotty’ (well so he is being described by the girls in the office anyway) has been her knight in shining armour in dreamland. Given that she is happily married, what the hell is going on?Does she fancy him? Does these dreams mean she is unhappy in her marriage?

Heck who knows, what I do know is,dreams are never really as they seem! Our subconscious is a place where reality gets to merged with fantasy, this more often leads to us having very elusive dreams.

Even if the feelings and emotions your dreams are emitting are not at the forefront of your mind they still could be attached to something you’re either thinking about or more like trying not to think about! You get my drift right!

You clearly don’t want to up and leave your husband for this guy,so take the dreams for what they are, innocent dreams. Who hasn’t had a dream or two about an attractive person helping us or that we’re getting some sort of attention from a hotty, everyone has!!

Don’t dwell on it because it’s the constant thinking about it that’s driving you crazy. It’s like this, don’t think of a pink elephant and what are you thinking about, a pink elephant!

Just remember they are JUST dreams. Here is a classic by the Everly Brothers to keep the mood going.

    More Tomorrow folks

  • Dreams CAN come true!

This morning, dreams were on our minds! It’s long been told that eating cheese, drinking milk and consuming spicy foods before bed all contribute to weird dreams. Here are a few more!

Niall asked about the ones that your favourite celebrities have made an appearance in, the ones you don’t want to wake up from.

We heard Obama has been catching up with one listener in the South East as well as The Hoff and Orlando Bloom!

Friendship and Money, the two that apparently should not be mixed. The daily dilemma scenario: Girl has a few electrical issues that needs fixing, friends father is an electrician but she has heard that he is over-priced.

So what does she do? Some have suggested to keep away from him in order to stay away from an awkward situation of having to drop him, others say get his quote and compare with another electrician then make your decision.

I think this comes down to you personality, if you’re on the braver side then just be upfront and say you have already gotten a quote  and would like to see if he can match it! If you are on the shy side then just leave him out of it because lets face it it’s much easier to barter with someone you don’t know!

  • Road Rage!

What are those songs that brings you to the brink of tears. You know the select few that has you bawlin’ from the intro. There were so many this morning that it’s hard to narrow it down to just one. The one that comes in at the top of my list has to be  Evanescence-My Immortal!

This is one of those songs that has a particularly haunting  tone to it. From the first bar alone most find it hard to stay away from that place in our minds that we dread!

A few more suggestions came in and here they are:

    Abba- Winner takes it all

    Faith Hill- There you’ll be

Snow Patrol- You could be happy

Elvis Presley- Are you Lonesome tonight

Nick Cave – Into my arms

Green Day- Time of your life

I’m sure there are hundreds more out there that more than a few people have shed a tear or two to!

On to the daily dilemma and road rage was the topic of the morning. Our emailer is in a new relationship and he has already discovered a bad habit that cannot be ignored. His new girlfriend has thrown a few tantrums on the road that has left him in shock.

I could quote all the curse words she has used but that would take all day,so for that your imagination will have to be used or you could listen here to the podcast. She has even turned on him a couple times calling him a “F***ing idiot”. He just doesn’t know what he should do!

We can all be accused of throwing a tantrum or two but this case was a little different because the sudden mood changes and cursing at the elderly at the pedestrian crossing seems more than just a little insane!

I really don’t know what I would do in this situation but I’ll say this I would be terrified that she could possibly turn violent in other situations. This kind of behaviour is more than a little worrying . So I would say caution is advised, try having a word with her about it.

PS. I would do it in a public place, just in case!

The mid-week hump is over, more tomorrow folks!
