Dale White named April winner of South East Sports Star Award

Wexford kickboxer Dale White has been named the April winner of the South East Sports Star Award with Beat 102-103 and Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Tullow Co. Carlow.

Dale was nominated for the award after he claimed a gold medal in the Senior kung fu sets division at the Irish Open kickboxing tournament. The event is one of the largest kickboxing competitions in the world with over 4,000 people taking part across the world.

Arguably Dale's greatest achievement came last year when he claimed 1 gold and 1 silver medal at the World Kickboxing Championship in Florida. He has also won medals at the Wako European Championships in Spain and numerous other events at home and abroad.

Dale became the first Wexford winner of the 2016 award after coming out on top in a tight vote all week on beat102103.com. The other nominees were Carlow handball duo Oliver Ryan & Daniel Fenlon,  Kilkenny soccer star Sean Maguire, Tipperary swimmer Nell McCarthy and Waterford horse trainer John Kiely.

Dale will now join the other monthly winners as nominees for the 2016 South East Sports Star of the Year Award which will be announced at the big awards night early next year.
