Record listenership for Beat shows

Beat 102-103 has retained its position as the Number One radio station in the South East.

That’s according to the latest Joint National Listenership Research. Ireland’s first regional radio station that broadcasts to Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary has more listeners daily and weekly than any other national or local station broadcasting in the region.

Beat 102-103 now has 159,000 listeners tuning in weekly, ahead of Radio 1 (145,000), 2FM (98,000) and Today FM (120,000) in the South East.

The station’s flagship morning programme, Beat Breakfast has increased its audience reach year on year by almost a quarter. 47,000 Adults in the region tune in to Niall, Vinny and Trish every weekday morning. The show will celebrate its tenth birthday on February 12th.

Meanwhile, Beat Drive with Andy Mac has been entertaining South East listeners on the Drive home since July 2003 and has also received its highest ever JNLR figures. 48,000 people in the region now travel home with Andy every day.

Beat 102-103 has consistently been market leader among 15-34 year olds for over a decade and this continues to be the case. In the latest publication, all weekday shows have experienced increases in this crucial demographic. Head of Station Sound Niall Power says “we have seen an increase in our primetime market share among 15-34 year olds from 46% to 50% each day. Whilst national stations are now actively chasing this audience, it’s clear that they’re increasingly drawn to the engaging content and music offer on Beat.”

Beat C.E.O./Programme Director Gabrielle Cummins says “We’ve seen a record figure for Breakfast and Drive, and in our primetime All Adult market share. We’ve kicked off 2016 by refreshing the brand visually, online and soon on-air, so we’re incredibly excited about further growth for Beat in 2016.”

These latest results cover the period January 2015 to December 2015
