Hey whats happenin', Im Darren - a Wexford lad, born & raised in the model county.
What started out as a planned career in journalism took a sharp left somewhere along the line not long after I finished school, fell in with this Beat crowd in mid 2004 & have had no desire to leave ever since.
Have been the full time production engineer since then, producing the ads & sculpting the stations imaging (they're the little whizzy bits you hear between songs!) on a daily basis.
When I started here at 21, one place I never thought I'd find myself was behind the microphone but within 6 months they had me on overnights, bringing "Your Music Now" to the more nocturnal types in the southeast & thus the learning curve began!
After a short few years I graduated to being part of the Weekend Sessions here on Beat, with my very own "Saturday Selection".
This was, and still is a huge achievement for me - a chance to showcase my love of house & techno on such a huge stage, bringing some of the freshest sounds in each genre to listeners on a weekly basis whilst also bringing to the fore some of the more local production & DJ talent from around the region & further afield.
In mid 2010 my whole world changed again, taking up the role as presenter of Beat 102 103's mid morning show Beat @ Work - the aim is to provide you with more music across your workday, helping to ease the stress & strain that only a 9 to 5 can bring & I look forward to helping fill that gap between clocking in on a Monday & clocking out on a Friday for all you "livin' for the weekend" types!
