OK, so I had a detailed blurb all ready to go up here, but I had written it in the third person. Liam has since been told that’s a no no! So here’s a new low down on me…by me.
First things first…I’m not originally from the South East, but despite popular opinion, I’m not a Dub! I was born and raised in Wicklow. However, I’m officially now a Waterford head, boy! I’ve been working in Beat since 2008 and have since become very settled in the region’s capital (mainly because I’m too lazy to drive back to Wicklow regularly, meh)!
Radio-wise, I’m well regarded as an absolute nerd, and rightly so in fairness! Having been obsessed with the medium from the age of about 15 (when I made my first broadcast), I studied radio in college in Dublin and got my BA in 2005. From there it was into the big bad world, working for radio stations here there and everywhere! I actually did fairly well and managed to pick up a few awards along the way, as well as becoming more involved in the business behind the scenes.
By the time I’d gotten to 23 the travel bug had bitten and I decided to head off for a year of debauchery in Australia and New Zealand. Not only was I lucky enough to make it back at a time when Beat was looking for someone, I was probably lucky to make it back in one piece! God knows how I managed that.
Ever since, I’ve been hosting Beat Interactive, Beat at Work and The Beat Goes On.
It’s a very hard way to make a living (*cough*), but I struggle through! The craic in the office is always great, and so is the craic on air! Every day from 12:50pm I let you pick all the tunes on Beat's Big Lunch and then on Beat at Work we give away a double pass for Omniplex Cinemas on Beat 102 103’s Forgotten Flick.
Away from work, I’m a huge film fan, “try” to play golf at regular intervals, am officially a Facebook/GMail Chat addict and have a strange fetish for washing my car!
