Hours after Donald Trump was revealed to be the new president-elect of the United States, fans have already started to call for Kanye West to usurp him.
Lest it had been forgotten, the rapper pledged to run for president in 2020 a year ago.
He originally announced his decision at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2015 and he recently spoke about it again, saying that his bid will be down to his views on humanity.

He said during a stint on BBC Radio One: “When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views. I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth.
“We are numb, we’re numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago a year, we’re numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July.
“If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it.”
Last night @kanyewest declared his candidacy for president in 2020. Welcome to the race, Mr. West. Glad to have you. pic.twitter.com/RKRWuRhSxv

The often-divisive rapper had originally said at the awards ceremony last August that he had “decided in 2020 to run for president”.
In the wake of the US election news, people have not forgotten, and have already started to suggest that Kanye might be a better option.

Some on Twitter even said that if Melania Trump can be the First Lady, then so can Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian West.
If Melania can be First Lady so can Kim #Kanye2020
— Blessing (@BlaqueSista) November 9, 2016
Too soon to be discussing Kanye 2020? Because I’m down for Kim as First Lady over Melania.
— Jenny West (@JennyJaneWest) November 9, 2016
And in 2022 when Kanye wins. Melania will handover to Kim. Melania will hand over to Kim.

Final thought: If Melania Trump can be first lady, so can Kim Kardashian. Kanye 2020. Anything is possible. #KanyeforPres

Odds for Kanye being named the president in 2020 have been set at 100/1 by bookmaker Coral, which is a lower price than Trump was when he started his campaign – he had initial odds of 150/1.
