Magic day in Kilkenny for the Fairytale Festival

Magic was in the air as Beat's Fairytale Festival descended on the grounds of Shankhill Castle once again.

The family friendly event, in association with Kilkenny County Council, took place in the picturesque setting near Paulstown.

The venue was transformed into a magical wonderland, and a whole host of activities were on offer to the hundreds of children in attendance including bouncy castles, archery, a treasure hunt and fairy trail.

Beat's CEO Gabrielle Cummins was speaking after the event:

"This is our second annual Fairytale Festival and it has just gotten bigger and better this year.

"The crowds came out in their absolute droves and of course the weather was a huge bonus for us; the sun shone all day.

"We were talking to people on their way out and the feedback has been really positive.

"We were delighted to have Kilkenny County Council on board this year, and they had Cartoon Saloon, the Taste of Kilkenny and all of these other lovely additions.

"I saw some children making some amazing upcycling art as I cycled by.

"I feel we improved it a lot on last year and we have more to improve on, but I'm already looking forward to Fairytale Festival number three."
