South East schools pilot coding

Comeragh College in Carrick On Suir has been selected to take part in a pilot scheme to introduce coding to schools.


The school is one of 3 from Tipperary and of 19 nationwide to take part in the initiative run by Intel and Lero.

Nenagh College and Colaiste Mhuire in Thurles are the other two schools to take part in the scheme

Beat News spoke to the Principal of Comeragh College Kevin Langton who said his school was delighted to be part of the initiative:

'If you look at any 12 year old now, communications is part of how they live.'

'They constantly have a phone or an iPad or an iPod or some form of communication device.'

'We felt, I suppose, in education you have to be relevant and we wanted to be part of this, we wanted our 12 year olds who are coming into us in September to link that into our curriculum'
