South East unemployment at "crisis point", says TD

A Waterford TD has said that unemployment in the South East is at a "crisis point".

It comes as recent figures from the CSO showed that the region has the highest levels of joblessness in the state.

David Culinane, Sinn Fein TD and Waterford native, says the region needs investment:

"In overall terms, we have seen some growth in job creation.

"The difficulty is that we still have the highest unemployment rate of any region across the state. which is very worrying.

"That's very worrying for those of us who want to see Waterford and the South-East best positioned and getting the resources that we need to allow the region to create the jobs."
