Gardaí investigating the fatal assault on Ashling Murphy have made a second arrest.
The 23-year-old teacher was laid to rest yesterday, after being attacked and killed while running along the Grand Canal in Offaly last Wednesday.
A male in his 30s is being detained in connection with the investigation in the east of the country.
Gardaí arrested the man under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act for potentially withholding information in relation to a crime.
Meanwhile, gardaí in Tullamore have until this evening to continue questioning the suspect arrested yesterday in Ashling Murphy's murder investigation.
