Bridgerton sets new Netflix viewing record

The latest and second season of Netflix show Bridgerton has smashed records on the streaming service.

Released on March 25th, follows Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) seeking a wife in the period drama series.

The streaming giant announced yesterday that the second season of Bridgerton had made a new chapter in their history books.

The show, which stars Waterford actor Jamie Beamish, had the biggest and most successful opening weekend of any English-language television show on Netflix.

Figures showed that viewers around the world 193 million hours of the show when it joined the platform over a seven day period.

According to Vanity Fair, the period drama was followed by the new competition series “Is It Cake?” and nabbing the third spot was the first season of “Bridgerton".

However, the latest season of the show failed to take the number one spot for the most successful opening weekend of all Netflix shows, regarding language.

The number one spot belongs to Money heist, with Bridgerton coming in at second.

Season 2 of Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix now.
