BRIT Awards will scrap Male and Female categories this year

The BRIT Awards (British Record Industry Trusts Show) are back for 2022!

The awards show, which showcases the best musical talent on the scene in that year, takes place on February 8th 2022.

However, there's a slight change as this year's BRIT awards won't have female and male categories.

Instead, they are launching new prizes for Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year.

Organisers say the move is about "evolving the show to be as inclusive and as relevant as possible".

At last year's awards, Billie Eilish won the International Female Solo Artist award while The Weeknd took home the male counterpart.

Also in 2021, pop star Dua Lipa took home the British Female Solo Artist award while J Hus took home British Male Solo Artist.

They've also announced the host of next year's ceremony will be comedian Mo Gilligan.
