Derry Girls movie could be on the cards!

Derry Girls movie could be on the cards!

A Derry Girls film could be a reality very soon!

It comes as the final/third season of the Channel 4 show hits the small screens next Tuesday.

The cast, which includes Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Siobhán McSweeney and more, attended the premiere in the Walled City itself last night.

Jamie, who plays Michelle, says she often gets special treatment when she returns to her hometown.

"It's great to come back and I think the one big difference is sometimes if I'm in a bar or restaurant I get people coming up to me which feels very special."

Also appearing at the premiere last night was the show's creator, Lisa McGee.

According to Goss.ie, McGee was asked if a film based on the series could hit the big screens.

McGee said “Who knows what could happen in the Derry Girls universe.”

“It’s been six years of my life, and I’ve loved it, it’s been very good to me, but we are very tired and need a holiday."

"This has been like saying goodbye, but it’s not often you get to do exactly what you wanted to do.”

For now, we have to settle for the brand new season coming on April 12th.

Clare, Orla, Michelle, Erin and James return along with comedian Tommy Tiernan also reprising his role of Gerry.
