Disappointment for Coldplay fans as concert supremo rules out second date

There will be no second gig by Coldplay in Dublin next summer.

That's according to MCD boss Denis Desmond who said yesterday "they just don't have the time."

Around 80,000 tickets were sold out for the gig at Croke Park in half an hour last week, leaving thousands more Coldplay fans disappointed and anxious for news of a second concert.

However, the MD of MCD, Mr Desmond told the Irish Examiner yesterday: “There won’t be a second Coldplay gig in Dublin. The band is playing only 15 gigs in Europe next summer and only two in the UK.”

The band last week added second gigs to other cities it is playing next next including Brussels, Gothenburg, Cardiff, and Paris.

Mr Desmond also confirmed yesterday that 50% or around 25,000 tickets for next year’s Electric Picnic have already been sold — even though no acts have been named or even booked as yet.
