Hip-Hop move for Liam Payne

Hip-Hop move for Liam Payne

We won't pretend we saw this coming: Liam Payne has turned hip-hop.

Well, sort of. The One Direction star's slick vocals have been used for a track from Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J's new mixtape.

The single, 'You', comes from the record the rappers are making with 808 Mafia producer TM88.

Payne has tweeted to insist that this track is not his own new single, but is basically just something he did for fun in his spare time.

"Hearing that I've got a single out lol thats a surprise to me that's a one take scratch demo I was writing with someone as an idea for them," he wrote on Wednesday night (April 20).

"Guess I need to guard my projects better ... They don't even let you finish these days... Just to clarify I do not have a single what u just heard is something i get up to on a weekend lol"

Even so, this hip-hop track is the first sign of Liam moving away from his boyband roots. Harry Styles is expected to go solo soon, while ex-1D star Zayn Malik recently released his debut album.

In other Liam news, the singer was spotted on a romantic dinner date with Cheryl last week - not that they're definitely going out or anything.
