Homegrown Friday Five: Cormac Looby, Bobbi Arlo, Siomha, Vale & Delorentos

Here are five wonderful pieces of music that showcase the talent from our small island. To hear all the latest and greatest in Irish music, check out Irish Beats with Rob O'Connor every Sunday at 8pm on Beat 102-103.

Cormac Looby

Hard-wiring

The lead single from the Tipp man’s new EP ‘Things We Don’t Control.’ It’s got a classic feel to it that never goes out of fashion.

Bobbi Arlo

Parasite

‘Parasite’ is the first release from Bobbi Arlo’s songwriting sessions with the UK’s Mikey Gormley. The song is about a love that just takes and never gives, all set to a laconic 4/4 beat.

Siomha

Right From The Statrt

‘Right From The Start’ is a soulful laid-back funk track - a rare style found across the Irish musical landscape. Taken from Siomha’s forthcoming album ‘Infinite Space.’

Vale

I Don't Need You Right Now

Vale is the musical persona for Tipp-based producer Eoin Halley. This one follows on from his 2021 tracks ‘Allow and Breach’ and ‘The Sun Is My Filter’, with an EP Aftertouch due out in April.

Throwback: Delorentos

Petardu

Taken from Delorento’s third album Little Sparks, which won the Choice Music Prize in 2012. It’s one of their most personal and powerful songs, about adoption and finding your roots. The whole album is brilliant and well worth revisiting (or visiting for the first time if you’ve never heard it!)

To hear the likes of these tracks and more, listen to Irish Beats on Sundays at 8pm on Beat 102-103
