Johnny Depp surprises kids with a visit to London's Great Ormond Street

Johnny Depp made some kids very happy yesterday when he turned up at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital in character as Jack Sparrow.

The actor donned his famous gear from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies as a Christmas surprise for the patients.

Johnny has long held Great Ormond Street in his heart since his daughter Lily-Rose was admitted there in 2007 with kidney failure. He told Graham Norton "When my daughter was ill there it was the darkest period of my life. I'd always done these visits but after that experience the visits became more and more important."

He added "the kids are so courageous but to be able to bring a smile or a giggle means everything in the world to me."

Needless to say, the patients were delighted to see him and they took to social media afterwards.
