Paul Mescal has been criticised for not wearing a poppy on The Graham Norton Show last night.

He was joined on the couch by Actress Emma Corrin, comedian Richard Ayoade, singer Loyle Carner and Black Panther stars Michaela Coel and Winston Duke.

Many users took to Twitter in anger asking why the Aftersun star wasn't wearing a Remembrance Day honour.

The actor is among the stars nominated for the British Independent Film Awards (Bifas) in its first year with gender neutral acting categories.

Nominees along side him include Dame Emma Thompson and Florence Pugh.

As part of the organisation’s 25th anniversary, the body has made the move to award five acting accolades with no mention of “actor” or “actress” as well as adding a selection of new performance awards.
