Watch: Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reimagined gets first official trailer

Now, this is a story all about how one of the biggest TV shows of the 90s is making a comeback in 2022.

Bel-Air is the highly anticipated reimagining of Will Smith's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 90s TV show.

Bel-air is set for release on 13th February 2022. The first three episodes will be released on SuperBowl Sunday with the rest premiering on a weekly basis.

There is no confirmation yet on where Irish viewers can watch the series. However, it will be available to watch on NBC's streaming channel Peacock from 13th February.

The new show will see fresh face Jabari Bank star as Will, Adrian Holmes as Uncle Phil and Cassandra Freeman as Aunt Viv.

Actor Olly Sholotan plays Carlton, Coco Jones plays Hilary and Akira Akbar portrays Ashley.

The official synopsis reads: "Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air".

It adds: "As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known."

Produced by the O.G Will Smith, Bel-Air will see the story of the Fresh Prince in drama format.

The concept was inspired by a skit created by a fan of the original show, Morgan Cooper.

Cooper released a trailer for what he imagined Fresh Prince would look like as a drama and it went viral back in 2019.

The real Fresh Prince saw the video on YouTube and went forward bringing an official version into production.

"3 years ago, my guy Morgan Cooper uploaded his fan trailer to YouTube, showing how he envisioned the Fresh Prince as a drama. Now, here is the first full look at his retelling of the story that’s always been so close to my heart. Cant wait for you guys to see it Feb 13 on @Peacock"

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air first aired on 10th September 1990 and ran until 1996.

Which trailer do you think is best? The fan-created one from 2019 or the original promoting the series release in 2022?
