Hotel bans lycra cycling shorts

Hotel bans lycra cycling shorts

A hotel has banned cyclists wearing lycra shorts, because of 'unsightly bumps and bulges'.

The Plough Hotel in Rangiora in New Zealand has put up a sign that says 'the bicycle is a beautiful object, but they should never have invented lycra - no lycra shorts allowed'.

The owner Mike Saunders says muddy football boots are fine, tracksuit bottoms are fine, but lycra shorts are not allowed.

A co-worker said they've had a number of experiences of large men in tiny shorts and it's not appropriate for children to see.

But the ban has been criticised for showing a lack of understanding and ignorance.
