Ireland's own Sinead O'Connor just missed the top spot in the list with her rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U" coming in at number two.

Just behind the Irish singer was guitar legend Eric Clapton, with "Tears in Heaven", which is about his son who died, while the number four spot goes to the late Whitney Heuston with her classic "I Will Always Love You".

Adele, James Blunt, Coldplay and The Beatles all make the list too.
