Food experts are calling this viral TikTok trend a vehicle for disordered eating.

The "What I Eat in a Day format" shows creators' daily food intake, while sometimes displaying calorie counts and before and after body comparisons.

Food challenges and strict diets are often staples of the popular clips, with some TikTokers undereating or overindulging.

Niamh Orbinski, Nutritionist and Intuitive Eating Counsellor, says the trend could damage the platform's young audience.

"Teenagers are growing, so they need actually more food than most teenagers think they need."
