Two Fin whales spotted near Waterford harbour

There's something in the water in the South East...

There are reports of sightings of two fin whales off the coast of Waterford and Wexford.

Martin Colfer, from South Coast chart wrangling, spotted the two whales in the water just before 12pm Sunday 30th October.

The first whale was spotted between Dunmore East, Co. Waterford and Hook head whilst the other mammal has been seen between Hook head and Loftus Hall in Wexford.

Martin spoke to Beat news about the sightings.

"The fin whale is the second largest mammal in the world after the blue whale.

"They can reach up to 22 metres in length.

"It's a fantastic sight to see: you can head to Hook head, Co. Wexford with a good pair of binoculars to have a look for yourself.
