2021 Grammy nominations revealed: Fans rage as Harry Styles, The Weeknd and BTS 'snubbed'

2021 Grammy nominations revealed: Fans rage as Harry Styles, The Weeknd and BTS 'snubbed'

The 2021 Grammy nominations were revealed on Tuesday evening, 24th November 2020 and some music fans across the world are unhappy.

Beyoncé leads the way with 9 nominations to her name including record of the year for "Black Parade" and "Savage" (with Megan Thee Stallion), best music video for "Brown Skin Girl" and best music film for "Black Is King".

Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Roddy Rich follow Queen B with 6 nominations each whilst Harry Styles and BTS received their first Grammy nominations.

Irish band Fonatines D.C have also been nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2021 Grammys.

It is the first nomination for the indie-rock band from Dublin who formed back in 2017.

Artists have taken to social media to express their joy after being recognised for their contribution to the music industry.

Dua Lipa wrote "this doesn't feel real. 6 Grammy noms, what is this life" whilst Doja Cat simpy tweeted fireworks.

Nicki Minaj has spoken out about the Grammys after Doja Cat's Say So was nominated for Record of the Year and Best New Artist award but not the remix that included Nicki.

"Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver."

Some fans have also taken to social media to express their anger for the small number of nominations for Harry Styles and BTS and the absence entirely of The Weeknd from the list of nominees.

"I'm so mad for the Weeknd tho. He deserved it so much too tfff his album is on the chart since it came out I'm disgusted", said one user on Twitter.

"BTS are beyond worthy of more nominations. And they will be nominated for more in the future" commented one person on Twitter.

"Grammy nominations never make any sense year after year, but HOW do you snub The Weeknd, especially for album of the year?? After Hours deserves better imo", said another.
