Gardaí in Tipperary arrest driver nine times over legal alcohol limit

An Garda Síochána in Tipperary have found a driver in breach of several driving offences.

Gardaí stopped a vehicle during a checkpoint conduction in Nenagh.

The driver was found to have been driving with no seat belt.

Upon further inspection, it was also discovered that the driver had not only no licence, but no insurance, NCT or Tax.

During a breath test, the breathalyzer recorded an alcohol level well above the legal limit.

The device for estimating blood alcohol content produced a result that was 9 times over the legal limit.

The Tipperary Roads Policing Unit (TPRU) arrested the individual for drink driving.

Following the Garda check, the vehicle was subsequently seized and a court date for the driver will be set for the offence.

In a separate incident in recent weeks, the TPRU stopped a car in Killenaule.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after they tested positive for cannabis, along with dangerous driving.

This driver also had no insurance, NCT or tax.

An Garda Síochána are urging drivers to drive safely on the roads, to ensure their cars and their credentials are road worthy and to never drive under the influence.
