5 passengers die in New York river helicopter crash

Five passengers on board a helicopter which crashed into New York City's East River have died.

The pilot escaped and was later rescued by a passing tugboat.

New York City's Police Commissioner James P O'Neill spoke at a news conference and said, "The National Transportation Safety Board will be conducting an investigation into the crash.

The helicopter is owned by Liberty Helicopter Tours and it was a private charter for a photoshoot."
