Almost all rental homes checked last year failed to meet minimum standards

Almost all rental homes checked in Ireland last year failed to meet minimum standards.

There are now calls to overhaul the system for ensuring properties are up to scratch.

In 6 areas, none of the properties inspected met the minimum standards.

These were Cavan, Carlow, Laois, Galway City, Waterford, and Kilkenny.

None of the councils have yet responded to a request for comment.
