AXA expected to close three Tipp branches as part of nationwide layoff

It's reported car insurer AXA is to close branches - potentially some in the region - and lay off staff.

It's claimed more than 100 jobs could be cut with the shutting of 18 branches, and the moving of operations north of the border.

The Irish Examiner reports it's possible at least one of it's three Tipperary branches in Clonmel, Thurles and Nenagh could be affected.

The company is the largest motor insurer in Ireland, employing 1-thousand-200 people.

Staff are set to be briefed on the cutbacks at meetings today.
