Boil water notice remains in place for Lismore

A boil water notice that was issued last week for the Lismore Deerpark supply remains in place this weekend.

The notice was declared due to issues with disinfection at the water treatment plant and all customers within this supply must boil water before drinking, making ice, washing food and brushing teeth.

Caution should be taken when bathing children to ensure that they do not swallow the bathing water

Boil water by bringing to a vigorous, rolling boil and allow to cool. Cover and store in a refrigerator or cold place. Water from the hot tap of kitchen or bathroom sinks is not safe to drink.

Domestic water filters will also not render water safe to drink, it must be brought to a vigorous boil and let cool to kill any bacteria that may be present.

Irish Water say they are unsure when the notice may be lifted but they are working with Waterford City and county council as well as the HSE to lift it as soon as possible.
