Campaigners say I'm a celeb should cut out the animals

Producers of popular TV show "I'm a Celebrity" have been urged to stop using animals and insects for bushtucker trials.

The call, from one of Ireland's leading animal rights campaigners, has been made just a day before the show's 21st season begins tomorrow.

John Carmody says the show's format is tired, tacky and cruel...and says animal loving viewers should boycott the show...

"Ratings are everything to shows like this. Either animals and insects being used on the show need to go or viewers are being urged to turn the channel.

This show is a nightmare to animal rights campaigners and it has the potential to reverse huge amounts of work we've done on the streets trying to educate people to be kinder to animals or at a minimum to consider animals."
