Candlelit protest to highlight lack of psychiatry resources for young people

A candle lit vigil is being held outside University Hospital Waterford later.

This is the second protest of its kind in the space of a month highlighting the lack of resources for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Toni Murphy from Waterford experienced the lack of services when her daughter needed them as she suffers from anxiety and depression.

She's urging people to come and light a candle with her this evening.

Speaking to Beat News about the last event, Toni says "It was fantastic we had 30 people arrived at the night which was amazing.

We left off balloons and stuff like that and I was overwhelmed now by the fact that I had 30 people there to support me.

A few of my daughter's friends are coming tonight to support her which I think is great. It's important to have the young people there to show their support and that they need these services."

The Candlit vigil is taking place at  7.45pm outside University Hospital Waterford.
