Carlow had a divorce rate higher than Dublin in 2015.

That's according to the latest figures on marital breakdown from the Courts Service. The figures were released to the Irish Mail on Sunday who published them today.

There were 68 divorce applications in Carlow last year, which meant that the county had the highest rate in the Irish Republic in 2015, at 125 applications per 100,000 people.

Dublin was in second place, with 1,552 divorce applications. This was one third of the national total and gave the county a rate of 122 applications per 100,000 people.
