Carlow GAA announces IT Carlow as its new partner

Institute of Technology Carlow is the new partner of Carlow GAA.

Making the announcement this morning, the Chairman of Carlow GAA, Sean Campion, described the new partnership as “a marriage between two great Carlow institutions committed to community, education and excellence” and said he was delighted with the synergies it will provide.

“Institute of Technology Carlow and Carlow GAA share the same values and objectives, such as community engagement, a dedication to education and training and a reputation for sporting excellence.

Current students and graduates play at Club and County level and the Institute’s own sporting facilities, its various sports courses to masters level, its sports staff and overall dedication to sporting excellence is internationally renowned.

This is a first for us, although our relationship with Carlow GAA and the County Board is already strong and engaged, thanks to our excellent sports faculty which has a great working relationship with the GAA through our BA (Hons) in Business Management & Sports Coaching (GAA).

Over the past ten years, this popular programme has seen many of our graduates work with county boards and teams throughout the country.

Many of our sports students, past and present, combine playing for the Institute with playing for Carlow clubs and, indeed, for their county.

We have invested significantly in our current sports facilities and are poised to begin another capital investment programme with our South Sports Campus this Spring which will deliver additional sports facilities for our student body.

As an Institute, we are committed to education and to being a key driver in the community and Carlow GAA shares these values with us. I can’t think of a more appropriate partnership for Institute of Technology Carlow and look forward to the future.”
