Cars damaged as lorry loses its load on Waterford road

Over 20 cars were reported damaged in County Waterford last night after a truck lost its load.

The incident happened between 6 and 7pm on the main Waterford to Tramore Road between Sommerville and the Ballindud roundabout.

The area has since been cleared.

It is understood that stones were shed from a lorry which damaged a number of vehicles travelling on the R675.

Gardai dealt with motorists reporting a range of damage including dents and damaged windscreens.

They're appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Tramore Garda station (051) 391 620.

Tramore Gardai urged motorists to avoid the area from Somerville to the Ballindud roundabout as they dealt with the situation.
