Dublin man to cycle 200km for Irish Cancer Society fundraiser in memory of 31-year-old Waterford fiancé

A 32- year-old Dublin man will undertake a 200km cycle from Dublin to Dungarvan this weekend as part of a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society to honour his late fiancé who tragically passed away from cervical cancer in May earlier this year, days before her 31st birthday and their wedding day.

Kevin Cullen will begin the two-day charity cycle at his hometown in Walkinstown, Dublin on Saturday 3rd of September and will finish in Aoife’s hometown of Dungarvan, Co Waterford on Sunday 4th of September at Abbeyside Church where Aoife has been laid to rest.

In November 2020, Kevin’s fiancée Aoife was diagnosed with a rare type of cervical cancer that unfortunately was not detected through regular smear tests. Though Aoife was a strong advocate for smear testing,  she was particularly keen to raise awareness of how to recognise other symptoms that something may be amiss, the main one being irregular bleeding.

Following Aoife’s tragic passing in May, Kevin has been determined to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society,  and to date he has raised over €25,000 since beginning fundraising
