Extra care needed on the roads as snow falls across the South East

Treacherous conditions are being reported on roads right across the country this morning.

Showers of hail, sleet and snow fell overnight in many areas, with a yellow weather warning in effect for every county.

That's due to expire at midday, and drivers are being warned to take particular care in shaded areas and on untreated roads.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says conditions could change very quickly throughout the day:

"We had a cold front go through yesterday evening and now we have much colder air coming in and it's very unstable."

"It's bringing in  some heavy showers, which will make it well-inland and there's a risk of thundery downpours, which can change conditions very quickly."
