Facebook removes 24 million pieces of Covid misinformation

Facebook and Instagram's parent company has removed 24 million pieces of Covid misinformation since the pandemic began.

Meta has a global team of 40 thousand people who monitor the platforms' content.

More than 3,000 accounts have been shut down worldwide.

Among the accounts shut down, 20 were based in Ireland.

The tech giant says it it has three step approach when it comes to tackling misinformation - remove, reduce and inform.
