Flavoured vapes could become banned in the EU

Flavoured vapes could end up being banned under the EU's plan to fight cancer.

The bloc's executive branch has proposed regulations on the sale of flavoured heated tobacco products.

The European Commission says it's in response to a significant increase in the volume of these items sold across the continent.

Flavoured products can be sold in a variety of forms including vape pens and flavoured e-liquid.

There have been calls in recent years for Ireland to ban flavoured vapes, to stop younger people taking up the habit.

According to the Irish Vape Vendors Association, there are currently almost 200,000 vapers (e-cigarette users) in Ireland.
