A garda was left with several injuries after being dragged by a jeep driven by a suspected drink driver in Co Tipperary.

Gardaí had been responding to reports of a motorist possibly under the influence in the Birdhill area on Saturday night at around 5.50pm.

Officers saw the man entering a jeep and he later failed to stop as he drove towards the village in the north-west of the county.
