Good news for Tipp Mushroom plant

There's been good news in Tipperary this week with the takeover of Golden Mushrooms.

The company has been aquired by Gorey based, Walsh Mushrooms Group.

The Wexford Company is the second largest mushroom supplier to the UK marketplace, with operations in Ireland and the UK in compost manufacture, mushroom growing, marketing and distribution.

Padraic O' Leary, Managing Director with the company told Beat News that they were already familiar with Golden Mushrooms.

"It's a farm we've worked closely with for the last 15 years.

Therefore we know the facilities and the staff very well.

Michael & Marian Bergin were the founders of the company and had grown the business to a significant level and came to us last year looking for an exit strategy becaus eof the pressures of Brexit."
