Government defends South East action plan

The Government have been highlighting the amount of investment planned for the South East region between now and 2021.

Regional ministers Brendan Howlin, Paudie Coffey, Paul Kehoe and Ann Phelan attended yesterday's launch of the "Building on Recovery for the South East" initiative.

They say 45,000 construction jobs will be created nationwide thanks to the capital investment.

And Paudie Coffey says the South East will feel the benefits of that.

"The construction sector has been hit very badly by this country in the recession and as the recovery happens we can see jobs in the construction sector rising", he says.

There's a €155 million euro commitment for social housing across the region, but also the construction sector will benefit greatly through the trades and the professions,  and it's the spin off from that which brings confidence to the area".
