Government scrap negative Covid certs for vaccinated passengers

Vaccinated air and sea passengers will no longer need to show a negative Covid test to enter Ireland from tomorrow (January 6th).

However, some passengers now face the prospect of not being able to travel due to their digital Covid certificate being out of date.

New EU-travel rules will mean the certs are only valid for nine months after your last dose.

Irish-issued certificates have not yet been updated to show a person's booster status, though the Department of Health says work is underway to address this.

John, who is a frontline worker, says he may be forced to cancel his family holiday.

"We have now learned that because the government hasn't issued the updated Covid Certs since we've had the booster jab, we won't be allowed to get into Italy, we won't get into a restaurant, we can't do anything with our children - we technically can't go now."
