Government to consider new 'tourist tax' in Dublin

The government is now exploring the possible introduction of a tourist tax in Dublin.

According to the Irish Daily Mail a briefing note has been prepared for the Tourism Minister, which examines an 'accommodation levy' in hotels and short-term lettings.

The money would be used to boost funds for local councils, however it's likely to be fought by tourism bodies.
