Kilkenny-based physiotherapist says more young people are now presenting with back pain

A Kilkenny-based physiotherapist says more young people are booking appointments complaining of back pain.

Theresa McGinn thinks remote working after the pandemic is likely the culprit for the increased presentations for physio.

She says people sitting down all day is reducing range of movement and causing pain.

Speaking to Beat News, Theresa outlines why remote working is likely contributing to the issue:

"Because there's nobody looking at you, you'll be sitting in a really bad posture, slumping down in the chair."

"You might be looking up at your laptop, or looking down at your laptop. Those things would be noticed in an office, because if you started getting little aches and pains, your office manager would probably be able to point it out to you."

"If you're sitting at home, there's nobody looking at you."
