Kilkenny created board game hits shelves just in time for Christmas

Two Kilkenny men have created a brand new board game that's hitting the shelves just in time for Christmas

Eamon Fennelly and his friend Niall's educational and fun game 'Top of the class' is a trivia like game where players have to answer questions correctly to try and reach the summer holidays end of the board.

But, they need to be careful to avoid the principals office on the way there!

The product is the culmination of a 25 year old idea and is now available in the likes of Easons, the book centre as well as online.

Speaking to Beat, Eamon explained why he wanted to create a board game;

"Over the last ten years, everyone has noticed that everyone has a device, children included. Tablets, mobile phones, watching TV, there's less interaction between parents and children.

We always felt that a board game is the ideal activity that a family can play together where you can have those shared moments and experiences. You're sitting across from each other having a good time and having a laugh."

Fennelly and his friend Niall created the board game to be both educational and great fun as well as being something that all ages can get involved in.

He explained how the game works;

"Top of The Class is a knowledge based board game based around the core subjects that would be covered in primary and secondary school which would include English, Maths, History, Geography and Science, we've also put in some general knowledge.

The aim of the game is to move around the board answering your different questions, the objective is to get to the June part and then there's a series where you've got to answer questions on each topic, to reach the top of the class."

Top of the Class is now available in Easons, The Book Centre, Art and Hobby shops and online.
