Kilkenny's Medieval Mile Museum is now open

Kilkenny's Medieval Mile Museum opened its doors to the public recently and we went along to see what's on offer.

Saint Mary's Church has been transformed into a modern museum that will host exhibitions and events into the future.

It's the starting point of the "Medieval Mile" trail and displays include civic treasures, replicas of the High Crosses of Ossory and Rothe Chapel.

The Museum Curator Grace Fegan said, "the first stop the visitors will have on the tour is this fantastic Medieval Map interactive map. It's where people can discover the Medieval Mile which starts at the Castle and goes all the way through to St. Canice's Cathedral and all the amazing attractions on the way in-between those two sites."

CEO of Kilkenny's Civic Trust and Medieval Mile Museum is Ciarán Conroy - he told us, "we have a story line of the 800 years of history culminating in the actual dig and excavation over the last five years and that's on giant plasma screens."
