Legislation is set to be introduced to ensure service charges in bars and restaurants go directly to workers.

The move will stop owners from using the charge for other purposes, and make tipping more transparent.

It comes as current working conditions for those in the sector will be raised at an Oireachtas committee today.

Fiona Dunne from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions says they're among the lowest paid workers in the country.
