Location of new Kilkenny hurling sculpture criticised

A Kilkenny councillor has criticised the location of a new monument dedicated to hurling in the county.

The sculpture pays tribute to different generations of Cats hurlers, and the Kilkenny county council has opted to place the sculpture on Canal Square beside the grounds of Kilkenny Castle.

The location is expected to be temporary before it moves to a permanent home near the Brewery.

Councillor David Fitzgerald voted against the move and asked for other options to be considered, but his request was denied.

He told Beat News why he is not in favour of the location.
