The lowest temperature recorded this winter was reached overnight.

Met Éireann has revealed the mercury plummeted to -6.7 at Mount. Dillion, Roscommon.

That was closely followed by Gurteen in Tipp at - 6.5.

Other standout recordings included Oak Park in Carlow.

The Orange Weather for low temperatures remains in place until 10 AM.
